Colour crush...

A beautiful, simple gathering this week, loving the monotones...
(not so much a 'colour crush' as a 'lack of colour crush' but lovely nonetheless)

Inspired by...Freya Art

How beautiful is the artwork of Freya Art?!
I absolutely love her designs and have done for quite some time.
I've recently noticed some new items popping up in her Etsy shop and thought I'd show a few of my favourites...
You can choose from large or small prints of her amazing artworks, greeting cards, wooden mobiles, aprons, tote bags, cushions.. soooo much eye candy to oooh and aaahh over, yum yum!
I need one of these prints in my life, but which one...

She's also re- designing her website at the moment but it's looking lovely even with just a welcome page!
Can't wait to see the finished site!

Anyway, here are some favourites (there are quite a few)

Decisions, decisions...

(picture credits for above - top right / bottom left)

I am desperate to get a digital slr camera...
I soooooo want one!
I've loved photography ever since my college days and still love it now,
and I'm done with being a point and shoot kinda girl.
Not that theres anything wrong with pointing and shooting at all, I've been able to get many a good photo with the use of my trusty little digital Canon camera and not forgetting the iphone and all the fabulous apps you can get;  instagram/ hipstamatic/ snapseed, etc...
They've both seen me through what I've needed, but I'm ready for a new challenge!

I'm always admiring other peoples handy work with a camera, and as many of you will know if you're a follower of mine on pinterest, I like nothing more than to pin some glorious food styling images, interior styling pics, lifestyle photos, magazine shoots or images that just make me stop and go 'ooooh what a beautiful photograph'!

So, I'm going to do it, after I've read endless reviews, and done my research, its decision time, and the big debate of Canon vs Nikon in the camera wars...!
Which to go for?
Oooooooooohhh.....

What do you own?
Any recommendations?

Canon is winning at the moment, thanks to friends opinions, my old school Dad and Uncle, bless 'em ('always Canon cameras and always Panasonic electricals!')

I'm currently having a play with my dads old Canon digital slr and its super lovely!
The image quality is beautiful.

So, watch this space.
I'll fill you all in when I've decided what to get and there'll probably be some serious amateur photography going on, so apologies in advance!
I'll try and document my attempts on here as I try and teach myself the ins and outs and goings on with white balance and shutter speeds...
I might even start with one of those 30 day photography challenges you see around pinterest :-)

So, in honour of this post on photography, here are a few beautiful images, styled or just naturally stunning, that I'm loving at the moment...

Although I was a little absent from blog land at the end of July/ beginning of August, I still managed to delve into the world of pinterest occasionally and continued pinning loveliness I came across.
(still super addicted to it even after all these months!)
Anyway, I thought I'd do a little post with a few of my favourite foodie images from the past few weeks, there have been absolutely loads of beautifully styled imagery flying around over there...
so here goes... enjoy!

Birthday snippets and travel adventures...

Well... I turned the big 'three oh!' back in July and what a busy time its been since then.
A family lunch, a cupcake tower, nom noms at Jamie's Italian with some fabulous friends,
pressies, cards, a one night stop in London to see what I can only describe as the 'AMAZING!'
Sweeney Todd west end show with Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton,
(if you get the chance to see this show, go! You will not be disappointed!)
a mini break to Bruges with the boy
(joint celebration of birthday and 5 year wedding anniversary)
and then straight off to New York with Paper and Cloth for the Printsource show, and the fun continued with a water taxi trip to Brooklyn, a little shopping in Catbird and a snoop around Artists and Fleas, a very warm walk along the high line and a lovely night out at Blue Note Jazz Club to see the soooooo very talented Mara Hruby!
(she's amazing, check out her you tube videos here)
Pheweeeeee!
What an amazing few weeks...

So, I thought I'd post a few little snaps I took as a round up of the busiest July for me yet...

An amazingly beautiful cupcake tower in all shades of duck egg blue, cream and soft pinks which tasted as good as they looked!
Lisa Jones 'Lovebirds' print, a present from the boy :-)
And the best present of all, (top right) the most stunning rings from the super talented jewellery designer Lilian Ginebra. You can find her etsy shop here.

(Bottom row)
A view of New York from the water taxi and a very lovely present from Catbird

(Pictures below taken from the official Sweeney Todd Musical London website here.)

This really was the most fantastic show...
Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton along with the rest of the cast, were utterly brilliant!

 Next up, the lovely Bruges...

(all above photos taken by me
bottom row: yummy scarf prints and some handmade necklaces bought from the arts and craft market in the town square)

Four days in Bruges, 'The Venice of the North', filled with walks along the cobbled streets and canals of this beautiful medieval town, sight seeing, people watching, photograph taking, boat tripping, buffet breakfasting (!), relaxing, waffle eating, beer drinking, horse carriaging, chocolate munching, shopping, beautiful food, wine and...happy days with the boy :-)
