Oliver Jeffers...

I've always looked to childrens illustrations as a source of inspiration right from my days at University many moons ago through to today, and have admired the work of Oliver Jeffers for some time now...
So, I decided to treat myself to an early Christmas present and buy his amazing collection of books, every page is literally filled with yumminess!
My favourites have got to be 'The incredible book eating boy', 'The great paper caper' and 'Stuck'.
(if I had to pick a top three, but all are gorgeous)

Here are just a few examples of his beautiful illustrations...

Villa Nova...

Villa Nova have a lovely new collection out... High Society.
See here for more.
Its has a lovely nostalgic look taking inspiration from the 1950's, with hand drawn ladies in 'Tea at the Ritz', a quirky, abstract look in 'Garland' (my favourite) with a real retro influence, and quirky motifs in 'Lyric' and 'Tiffany'.
Got to love a bit of a 50's trend!

Villa Nova also have other new collections on their website; 'Nyssa', 'Astrid' and more, so have a looksie, enjoy!

Heres a bit of a peek...

Paper and Cloth at Printsource...

Ooh, exciting things have been happening in the Paper and Cloth design studio recently as we get ready for Printsource next week. Be sure to stop by and see the stand if you're visiting the show, it's F11.
Here's a little shot of our new promo cards for the show and a link to the blog post over on the P&C blog about the work we've been doing recently.

We also feature on the Printsource blog in their post titled 'Pattern People's Top Ten Print Trends for AW12/13', under 'Tapestry' and 'Cross Stitch', exciting!

A gathering of loveliness...

We had a little day trip out to Stratford-upon-Avon recently (the boy, the fluffball and me!) and, apart from having a lovely time walking along the river and sitting in the park, eating fish and chips and ice cream (in that order, yum!), wondering around the farmers market and then having multiple photographs taken of Alfie (the fluffball) by lots of tourists, (bit weird but I suppose he's just THAT cute) we also had time to look round a few shops.
There are some of the normal high street shops you'd expect to see but also some lovely small independent shops stocking some gorgeous things so I thought I'd do a little round up of some nice bits I fell in love with. (and of course, some purchases were made, it would have been rude not to...)

First up, a lovely little 'Aladdin's cave' of a shop called Aspire Style.

Full to the brim with gorgeous jewellery, bags, decorative home bits and bobs and general loveliness.
( I bought a lovely key necklace and a ring, can'r resist a bit of jewellery)

They had lots of products themed around 'haberdashery', with tape measures, buttons, sewing patterns and instructions and all in lovely faded colours.

(How cute is this owl?!)

Thought these were just gorgeous, love the mix of the delicate bird cages with a ditsy floral print and doilies. (loving doilies at the moment...)

Next up... Vinegar Hill.
I've visited one of these shops before, in Cheltenham, which was a little bigger than the one in Stratford, but still full of gorgeous home decorations with quite a big focus on a nautical theme at the moment. You can visit their website here.
There was a collection of homeware that really caught my eye by Pip Studio, yum!

And when I visited their website after seeing this gathering of loveliness in Vinegar Hill, I was not disappointed. Right from the home page, its just b.e.autiful!

ooh, gorgeous yes?
Definetley!

I also added to my collection of rosehip notebooks. I love all of the different patterns and thought this one was really nice.

See more on the website here.

Birds, owls and flowers...

I don't know why I have this strange infatuation with anything bird or owl related, however, I do...
(you can only imagine how much I love my owl barn blog, so cute!)
so here are a few bits I've worked on x

 Happy sunshine weekend!

(fingers crossed)
